We quite often get asked about the activities available around the cottage when people book, so it seemed a good idea to list the most popular activities here. As with any aspect of the cottage however, please ask us if you have any questions and we’ll do our best to find out.
West Burton is an ideal base for mountain biking and road cycling. If you’re already a keen cyclist I’m sure you’re already aware of the possibilities, but if you’re more keen on a day trip then it’s handy to know where to hire.
Aysgarth Bike Hire is very close to the cottage and offers cycle hire at very reasonable rates for terms as short as half a day. The bikes come supplied with a safety helmet and toolkit, so ideal for those without equipment or the means to bring it up to The Dales.
For those a little more adventurous the Dales Bike Centre in Reeth offer high spec mountain bikes and road bikes for hire, and better suited to the more experienced rider.
A selection of route guide books are available in the cottage book shelf for visitors to use. These cover mountain bike routes and road routes for a variety of skill and fitness levels.
